Secondary & JC: River Valley High School Currently awaiting A Level results for university applications
I have taught lower secondary students (Sec 1-2) at Budding Minds as a volunteer tutor since 2023, in a variety of streams such as Express and Normal (Academic) for subjects such as their various sciences, Maths and English. I usually conducted my tutoring sessions 1-to-1, or when we had a shortage of tutors, 1-to-few (2-3 students together), for about two hours every week, with breaks in between to ensure they are not overwhelmed by the workload. I prioritise addressing the student’s concerns or questions they have with the syllabus before diving into the questions.
I also have experience in 2025 working as a primary school teacher under MOE’s teaching internship, where for three months I taught Chinese in Blangah Rise Primary School at the P1 and P6 levels, each class having 15-20 students. As such, I have been able to observe the teaching methods of current MOE teachers and apply them into my own style as well.
I am able to teach in both English and Chinese, as I believe I am effectively bilingual, having done well consistently for both languages from primary school to secondary school, and scorings As for both languages in my O-Level equivalent Sec 4 End-of-Year exams in River Valley High School’s IP stream. In 2021, in my Sec 3 year, I was awarded the Bicultural Studies Programme Scholarship for 4 years, after passing a rigorous interview and selection process. I also took Higher Chinese in Secondary 4, scoring Merit for my Oral examination and A2 overall for the subject. I have continued to show proficiency in both languages in JC, where I continued to take a Chinese language subject - China Studies in Chinese.
I will put in my best effort to teach my students in the methods that best suit their learning styles / needs, and ensure their continued interest in learning. Please do not hesitate to reach out to me should you have any questions about me or my teaching style! Thank you for considering me, and I hope to be given the opportunity to work with you.
