I believe I would be a suitable math teacher because of both my academic and personal life experiences in mathematics. Having scored an A in primary and secondary school mathematics and a good grade in H2 Math in JC, I have a good grasp of mathematical concepts.
In addition, I have been teaching my cousins in 1-1 settings, from which I have learned patience and adaptability when it comes to teaching. I can also relate to students who struggle with math because I was once a playful child who was not disciplined, hence occasionally struggled to learn. Because of this, I understand the frustrations that students may have and know how to guide them towards improvement.
My teaching style focuses on active learning by the student and ensuring that they understand the thought process in problem-solving, not just memorising formulas. I also attempt to make mathematics more enjoyable by highlighting the satisfaction in problem-solving while offering the discipline necessary to excel in quantitative classes.
I have consistently excelled in language-based subjects, securing an A for English at PSLE, an A1 at O-Level, and strong results in both General Paper and the Study of Visual Arts, which are heavily English-based. These achievements reflect my strength and passion for languages. From a young age, I developed a deep appreciation for reading and the poetic nature of language, which has shaped my ability to analyze and articulate ideas effectively.
With this strong foundation, I am confident in my ability to teach subjects like English, helping students develop both technical proficiency and a genuine appreciation for the language.
