Tutor’s Teaching Background

While my time teaching in Japan for a year was an eye-opening experience that broadened my global perspective, it also highlighted a deep-seated cultural distance in their educational exposure. This solidified my desire to return home to Singapore to positively engage with students in a local context where I can make a more direct and relatable impact.
During my four years at My English School, I worked extensively with children aged 3 to 11, focusing heavily on the mechanics of early literacy and student-centred behavioural management. My core contributions included:
• Phonics Innovation: I specialized in creating and innovating lessons designed to foster blending and segmenting skills for younger learners. By developing targeted phonics activities, I helped students bridge the gap between letter recognition and fluent reading.
• STELLAR based Supplementation: For primary-aged students, I designed custom worksheets aligned with the STELLAR framework. These resources provided the necessary scaffolding to help weaker learners keep pace with national school standards and improve their literacy outcomes.
• Behavioural Expertise: Drawing on my background in Psychology, I focused on understanding student learning behaviours across different developmental stages. This allowed me to manage diverse classroom dynamics effectively and create a supportive environment where students felt motivated to reach their full potential.
