Tutor’s Teaching Background

I have attained a score of 267 for PSLE, scoring full As for all subjects and Distinction for Higher Chinese. This would equate to a perfect score of AL 4 under the current scoring system. Subsequently, I have enrolled in Hwa Chong Institution under the 6 year Integrated Programme (IP), of which now I am a GCE A Level Graduate, matriculating into the National University of Singapore(NUS) in 2025.  I have a flair for teaching the subject of English, in which I have a strong foundation. I help students improve in examinable components such as creative writing, composition, comprehension and oral, whilst introducing and enhancing a spectrum of vocabulary to them. With an A grade in GCE A Level English Literature, I will also share phrasing, writing and vocabulary tips, allowing them to understand and enjoy the beautiful language of English. I have 3 years of experience in 1-1 home teaching, in which I tutored students from top prestigious schools like Hwa Chong Institution and Nanyang Girls High School. Personally, I prefer 1-1 or small group settings as this allows more attention to be given to students, allowing them to absorb information better. I am also patient in my explanations, and should the student not understand, I restructure or rephrase concepts so they are able to view them from a different perspective. This allows students who tend to be rigid in their thinking approach problems in a more flexible manner. In addition, I often give words of affirmation and encouragement so that students are motivated, which is integral in giving them the right mindset to tackle future questions. With that, I am confident that I can bring your child to greater heights and achieve good improvements in their grades.
