Tutor’s Teaching Background

I am a computer science graduate from the Singapore University of Technology and Design (SUTD) writing to apply for a part-time tutoring position in Mathematics for primary and secondary school students. I attained an A in both H2 Mathematics and H2 Computing at Yishun Innova Junior College, and have hands-on experience guiding students through challenging concepts with patience and structure.

My most direct tutoring experience came when I privately tutored a JC student in H2 Computing. Within a single month of structured, one-on-one sessions, the student achieved a 4-grade improvement. I approached this by designing targeted lesson plans that covered syllabus topics, identified common pitfalls, and built the student’s confidence through fundamental problem-solving frameworks. This experience gave me a strong appreciation for the patience and adaptability required to reach each student at their own level.

Beyond direct tutoring, I have consistently taken on roles that require explaining complex ideas clearly and leading others with care. As Vice President of the Google Student Developer Club at SUTD, I led a community of over 50 members, organised onboarding hackathons for new students, and spearheaded an AI education initiative in partnership with AISG, ensuring members completed their certifications through guided support and structured follow-up. This role sharpened my ability to break down technical concepts for audiences with varying levels of experience, a skill directly transferable to teaching young learners.

I believe my strong academic foundation in Mathematics, proven tutoring results, and years of experience leading and mentoring young people make me a reliable and effective tutor for primary and secondary school students. I am patient, organised, and genuinely enjoy seeing students grow in both confidence and ability
