[5.5 months] E-Bridge Preschool @ Bukit Batok West Roles:- Executed more than 10 holistic indoor and outdoor lessons across 6 domains of development; Aesthetics & Creative expression, Motor Skills Development, Language & Literacy, Social and Emotional Development, Discovery of the World and Numeracy for N1 children.- Managed routine care (wipe-down, milk-making, preparing lunch) and transitions such as ‘Story Reading’ across all levels- Worked closely with lead teachers in event planning (Hari Raya, Racial Harmony Day, National Day)- Tracked the progress of child with DN (Developmental Needs) in his domains of development - Planned a field trip to the (Science Centre) in accordance to the centre’s SOP (Standard Operating Procedure), took note of allergies and emergency contacts for possible contingencies- Engaged in parent-teacher communication during health checks and send-off- Disseminated take-home activity kits to parents and caregivers- Wrote mid-term reports about internship progress, participated in peer sharing- Facilitated warm and reciprocal interactions with children - Crafted classroom resources according to the term’s theme I had fostered reciprocal relationships, implemented inclusive curriculums and useful classroom strategies for children with developmental needs, practiced resourcefulness in creating learning resources, gained collaborative skills and built an open environment by working with my mentor, lead teachers, supervisor and fellow student interns to receive constructive feedback. I had built rapport and partnership between parents & the community. I was also proactive in my role by noting possible contingencies and the measures to take if accidents were too happen outside/in the classroom [5 weeks] PCF Sparkletots @ Serangoon North Roles: - Executed 4 lessons (Numeracy, Numeracy Learning Centre, Language & Literacy, Motor Skills Development) within a period of 5 weeks- Crafted teaching aids and resources for the school’s learning centre- Disseminated consent forms to parents; fulfilling PDPA- Assumed teacher-assistant roles and routine care (toileting, preparing for lunch, nap and snack time) while managing a class of Kindergarten 1 (K1) children- Facilitated transitions such as storytelling to the whole class- Coordinated back-up lessons for children when the host teacher was absent- Assisted in the school’s ‘Deepavali’ event by putting up decoration and booths; was in-charge of a booth where I applied henna on children- Assisted in logistics like spring cleaning during centre closure, organized serial numbers on centre resources like toys/instruments using Microsoft Excel- Attended and shared meaningful insights on how to improve the physical environment in a meeting regarding the school’s SPARK certification This was my catalyst in creating professional and collaborative workplace relationships. I had received constructive feedback from my host teacher and supervisor on how to improve my classroom management strategies and make my lesson plans more holistic. My performance/appraisal was well-received by the centre leader and host teacher. I displayed flexibility in my role by;- executing lessons/crafting learning centre resources- facilitating routine care and transitions- honing technical and organizational skills- creating backup lessons when the host teacher was absent [1 week]: PCF Sparkletots @ Nee Soon South Roles- This was my first field exposure in Early Childhood. I was attached to the toddler group. Under the guidance of my host teacher, I had observed routine care such as food and nap time preparation, diapering, showering and changing.- Adhered to the classroom schedule while working closely with lead teachers, gaining interpersonal skills and time management - Engaged in warm and reciprocal interactions with children while facilitating transitions suchas ‘Story Reading, learnt useful behavioural strategies such as the use of props and puppets for toddlers who are easily distracted - Facilitated children’s play experiences during small group learning Though brief, this experience has allowed me to form meaningful connections with children and learn how to care for their needs, while cultivating interpersonal skills as a mentee and Educator-in-Training
