Recently diagnosed with selective mutism. We realised that that as a result of avoiding speaking and interacting with her teachers in school, she has fallen back on her literacy skills. We signed her up for I Can Read classes, but the same issue remains - due to fear of speaking to the teacher, they are unable to assess her abilities and therefore is unable to progress to the next level even after 9 months. We’re looking for a tutor who has experience with dealing with children who face similar struggles.
