He has passed ABRSM Grade 3 and hasn't been formally tested yet, but he can probably play Grade 4-5 pieces. We want to strengthen his basic foundation in areas like hand placement, movement, sight-reading, and eye training. Currently, he doesn't have a solid grasp of these fundamentals—for example, he tends to casually place and move his hands without regard for the timing requirements between notes. Additionally, we want to improve his understanding and ability to express musical pieces more dynamically; at present, he plays most pieces in a rather flat and unexpressive manner.
