Tutor’s Teaching Background

Dear parents, I am a Singapore University of Social Science degree in psychology graduate (2nd upper honours) with more than 4 years of experience tutoring more than 20 primary school children with either mainstream or special needs background. I have worked as a special education teacher in a local special education primary school and interned in three other special needs centres. I specialise in teaching mathematics and science to primary school children using explicit direct instruction (I do – We do – You do) and the concrete-pictorial-abstract approach. I have managed a diverse caseload of children with autism spectrum disorder, attention deficit hyperactive disorder, down’s syndrome, mild intellectual disabilities, specific learning difficulties and social emotional difficulties. I am also equipped with professional certifications such as picture exchange communication system level 1 and 2, and fundamentals of autism by autism resource centre. My teaching style is engaging yet directive. I believe in experiential learning and working on my student’s strengths/interest to maximize growth.
