Tutor’s Teaching Background

Academic Achievements: - A1 for O Level English - A for A Level H1 General Paper - NUS Bachelor of Social Science (Distinction), Political Science Tutoring Profile: 5 years of tutoring experience, specializing in teaching English to Secondary level students - I’ve taught a total of 35 students from Secondary 1 to Secondary 4 . Students have improved by 2-3 grades on average. Result improvements for O Level Batch of 2024: - B4 to A1 (1 student) - B3 to A1 (2 students) - B4 to A2 (1 student) -C6 to B3 (1 student) My tutees have given me positive feedback, saying they like my patience in tutoring and that I make complicated ideas sound easy. They have also mentioned that my step-by-step techniques gave them more confidence and enabled greater precision in tackling examination questions. The proven approach that I take to tutoring is to first present the framework for the student to apply what they have learnt. Next, I utilise a duo interaction method in which the student presents their answers to questions, and I then address their weaknesses through their method of thinking. I also emphasise exam-taking skills that help my students score well. As a rather approachable and patient tutor, I will be open to student’s questions via text outside of tutoring hours. I also regularly update parents on the assigned homework and their child's progress. I will utilise materials such as worksheets and past year papers to enhance and maximise the student’s learning I am experienced and well-versed with the latest Sec 2-4 Singapore English MOE syllabus (Editing, Situational writing, Composition, Comprehension, Visual text, Listening Comprehension).
