Tutor’s Teaching Background

I have 5 years of experience teaching preschool-aged children, including hands-on experience in phonics instruction. I am familiar with the Synthetic Phonics Approach (Jolly Phonics) used in Singapore to prepare children for Primary School. My lessons focus on segmenting, blending, and multi-sensory activities to develop phonemic awareness, letter-sound correspondence, decoding, and early literacy skills. I also experiment with different teaching strategies to identify what works best for individual children, adapting my approach to suit their abilities and learning needs. In my current organisation, I work closely with the Curriculum Team to refine and improve our phonics curriculum, contributing practical classroom insights to ensure the programme is effective and meaningful for young learners. Aside from Phonics, I also have experience teaching foundational numeracy concepts, such as counting, number recognition, and simple addition and subtraction.
