Tutor’s Teaching Background

About me: I scored A1 for O-Level English at Cedar Girls' Secondary School and A* for PSLE English, and I bring teaching experience across the full English learning journey, from primary through to tertiary writing instruction. I tutor Primary English (P1 to P6, including PSLE) using a structured drills-based approach. At the higher end, I have led writing workshops at the university level, both of which involve the kind of argument-driven, evaluative writing that Sec 4 students need to develop in preparation for O-Level. I also ran IELTS speaking and writing clinics, where students achieve an average 2-band improvement. The skills coached here (argument development, register, paragraph structure, language precision) map directly onto the demands of O-Level English Paper 1 and Paper 2. My Political Science degree at SMU (Magna Cum Laude / High Distinction, Dean's List AY22/23 and AY23/24) involved extensive academic writing and critical reading, which informs how I teach essay structure, comprehension reasoning, and language use.
