Tutor’s Teaching Background

Taught 2 students for secondary school subjects, such as in History, English, and Maths. Over 2 years saw their grades increase from a C to an A, through teaching methods encouraging students to question themselves and guiding them to reach a correct answer themselves, rather than providing answers directly. Able to provide papers to test them, dedicated to see students improve over time. Specifically for Chess, was on the Singapore Chess Federation team, and played in FIDE sanctioned tournaments overseas when younger, classic timing primarily. Learnt under various International Masters, and have a solid grasp on theory and fundamentals of chess that I am confident in teaching to younger kids, having had experience in my secondary school's and JC's chess clubs. I know the importance of getting a kid as young as 4.5 years old interested and invested in the sport, not just as something to drill in their head, and so will try and tailor towards that.
