My Teaching Approach and Experience How I Teach When it comes to teaching, I like to keep things simple. My main goal is to break down complex ideas so that they make sense to students. I believe that if you can explain something in a straightforward way, it’s much easier for kids to understand and remember. Personally, I think studying (especially at primary school level) does not need that many different techniques and complicated methods. I also think that practice is key. For me, this means working through past exam papers. These papers give students a clear idea of what to expect and help them get used to the kinds of questions they’ll face in exams. By doing this, students not only improve their skills but also gain confidence in their abilities. Another important part of my teaching is creating a mistake bank. This means keeping track of errors made during practice tests and assignments. By looking back at these mistakes, students can spot patterns in what they’re struggling with and learn how to avoid those same errors in the future. My Experience Last year, I worked with two primary school students who were preparing for their PSLE. They were studying Science and Math, and I focused on helping them with both subjects. By simplifying the material and doing a lot of past papers, one student ended up getting AL1 while the other achieved al3, which was awesome. Of course, their own hard work played a huge part in their success. Right now, I’m tutoring my Primary 4 cousin in Math. I’ve seen his grades go up, and my aunt, who’s keeping an eye on his progress, has noticed the improvement too. It’s great to see that the approach is working well for him too. Wrapping Up In a nutshell, I make complicated things simpler and get students practicing with past papers to prepare them for their exams. From my past experiences, this method has proven to be effective, and I’m glad to see it helping students improve and succeed.
