MASTERCLASS GUEST LECTURER ∙ LASALLE COLLEGE OF THE ARTS, SINGAPORE

Held virtual masterclass lectures over Zoom to give insights to diploma and bachelor animation students about concept art, character design, and the art industry.

• Dissecting and distilling complex topics into simple bite-size information to digest as a crash course. Comprehensive preparation and customization of the lesson plan to fit the students’ needs. Live-demonstrated the drawing process, review, and critique under pressure and time constraints.
  
  
• Garnered positive feedback and engagement from the students with my content and extensive lesson conduct. As a result of my knowledge and credibility, I have established a good rapport with the school and had the opportunity to be invited again to hold masterclasses.

FREELANCE CONCEPT ARTIST ∙ FOX & CO, NEW ZEALAND

Conceptualize, explore and design concepts, mainly characters, for an unreleased animated commercial short film.

• Principal character designer for the project. Provided ample, over a hundred, satisfactory design options of characters and their colours to multiple directors and clients while still being well ahead of schedule. 
• Collaborated with the team on-site and am actively engaged, providing expertise and solutions to streamline pipeline and other managerial concerns albeit outside of my design job scope.

APR 2023 - JUNE 2023
FREELANCE ILLUSTRATOR ∙ HALUS HOLISTIK, SINGAPORE

Design, conceptualize and illustrate 25 illustrations in a crayon-like art style for a series of mindfulness cards for kids.

• Principal illustrator for the project. Designed with inclusivity to include a variety of ethnicities, races, outfits and clear poses to differentiate every card and ensure clarity in delivering the idea behind the illustration to kids.
  
  
• Patiently worked through the processes with an educator and first-time clients, undertaking the entire project from proposal to execution and advisory.

2D CONCEPT ARTIST ∙ MIGHTY JAXX INTERNATIONAL, SINGAPORE

In charge of conceptualising and designing characters for designer art toys. Worked on over 15 different high-profile, featured properties such as One Piece, SpongeBob SquarePants, Sesame Street, etc.

• Successfully presented and pitched concept proposals to higher-ups through thorough research, brainstorming and forward planning. To date, there are about 20 toy collections released based on my concepts.
  
  
• Highly adaptable. Accurately adapted to different brands’ art styles in my designs, producing quality works that regularly meet clients’ satisfaction ahead of the stipulated approval time, speeding up our production timeline.
  
  
• On top of the daily concept workload, oversaw and guided interns, and freelancers. Facilitated cross-departmental discussions for clear delivery and communication of the concepts’ vision, details, feasibility, feedback, and character turnarounds.
  
  
• Resilience and flexibility going through pre to post-COVID-19 times and multiple company structural changes. Adopted new technologies and workflows while maintaining efficiency regardless of work settings.
  
  

MAY 2016 – JULY 2017
JUNIOR STORYBOARD ARTIST ∙ OMENS STUDIOS, SINGAPORE

Storyboarded and edited animatics for the TV series, “Counting with Paula” Season 2 and 3. Each episode lasts 10 minutes. 

• Acclimatized quickly to the tight timeline and unfamiliar area of expertise, delivering over 30 episodes of storyboards and animatics. Took the initiative to attend storyboard courses and exchanged feedback and ideas with the director and supervisor to constantly improve my skills and the work produced.
  
  
• Established trust and reliability with the team over time and was given an opportunity, albeit being a junior artist, to assist in the storyboarding for a Singapore local film, Circle Line.
