Tutor’s Teaching Background

I am a joyful and passionate educator who strives to encourage my students’ learning by helping them understand concepts deeply, rather than simply memorising. I believe that when students grasp the “why” behind what they are learning, they become more confident, motivated, and independent learners. Over the years, I have seen clear improvements across the different age groups I teach: • Pre-school students have developed stronger reading and writing abilities, while also becoming more confident in mathematics, preparing them well for the transition to primary school. • Primary school students have shown tremendous progress in just 6 months, with many improving by at least 2 AL grades in their examinations. • PSLE students I’ve taught average an AL 2 in both Science and Mathematics. • Secondary 1 students I guide consistently score A1s while adjusting to the challenges of secondary school. • Upper secondary students typically improve by 2–3 grades within 3–6 months under my tutelage. • For Upper secondary English students, I have helped them achieve significant growth in essay writing and comprehension answering skills. I also have experience working with students who have ADHD and autism. I adapt lessons by incorporating fun, engaging, and attention-captivating activities, ensuring that every learner feels supported and motivated. My teaching methods are rooted in: 1. Student-Centered Learning – I prioritise active participation and engagement to make learning meaningful and enjoyable. 2. Differentiated Instruction – I adapt strategies, materials, and assessments to meet the diverse needs and learning styles of my students. I firmly believe that collaboration with parents plays a crucial role in a child’s success. I maintain open communication with parents and guardians, providing timely performance updates and discussing strategies to further support each student’s growth. Through this approach, I have built a teaching style that is both results-driven and nurturing, allowing my students to not only excel academically but also grow in confidence and love for learning.
