Tutor’s Teaching Background

I am currently teaching a Secondary 3 girl Maths. I used to tutor a Secondary 4 girl Maths and Pure Chemistry. She received her O level results earlier this year and saw a grade improvement from E8 to A2 for her Chemistry and E8 to A1 for her Maths. I was part of the buddy tutors programme at my school. In the programme, I was given the opportunity to head down to the centre every Saturday, for three months to tutor Mathematics and Science to less privileged students. These students, who were originally failing their mid-year examinations, managed to improve to an A in their year-end examinations. As an undergrad who had just sat for my A levels examinations, I understand how daunting Math and Science can be for people who do not understand them. But, fret not, I am willing and able to patiently explain these seemingly tough concepts to my tutees. I am confident that after my explanations, my tutees will be able to grasp those concepts more easily, become more confident and see improvements in their results. Lastly, I have taken a variety of mathematics modules in university and have achieved decent grades (averaging around an A-) in all of them. So, I do have a firm understanding of my content and am willing to share more with my tutees if they are interested in content beyond the syllabus. Being in university also allowed me to be flexible in my schedule allowing for more freedom when it comes to tuition timings. (more able to accommodate last-minute changes in tuition timings)
