Tutor’s Teaching Background

When teaching Primary 1 Chinese, my focus is on building a strong language foundation while keeping lessons engaging and enjoyable. At this level, students are still developing listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills, so I use a variety of interactive methods to make learning approachable. For vocabulary, I introduce new words through flashcards, songs, and stories, then guide students to apply them in simple sentences. I place strong emphasis on hanyu pinyin, stroke order, and character recognition, using tracing, writing practice, and memory games to build confidence. To develop listening and speaking skills, I use role-play, picture-based conversations, and oral storytelling so students can practise expressing themselves naturally in Chinese. Reading is encouraged through short passages and children’s stories, where I guide them to identify key words and understand meaning. Lessons are paced gently with repetition, encouragement, and fun activities to spark interest. My goal is to nurture confidence and curiosity so that students see Chinese as both manageable and meaningful.
