Tutor’s Teaching Background

Teaching approach: I believe that students are not naturally weak at a subject, but rather do not grasp the concepts and answering techniques well enough and thus are caught off guard when questions require the manipulation of concepts and not just memorisation. I aim to strengthen students concepts by using simple questions that cement one’s foundations, before moving on to questions gleaned from practice papers and TYS that have twists and tricks and come out frequently. Rather than mindlessly doing questions day after day, I believe that quality learning time should be prioritised, and I will only give questions that I think best and will likely come out in exams. I also strive to assist my students in finding a studying methods that’s suitable for them. An example is that some students are unable to retain concepts even after constanly revising them. I would then advise them to make their own notes, since most textbooks and notes given by schools are too wordy and it becomes difficult for students to focus on the key concepts. Records: Currently have two students under me, learning Chinese and Math respectively. Have also taught relative’s children in Secondary 2 and has seen great improvements in Chinese from constantly failing her Chinese to a B3 in her EOY exams Flexible with days of the week since am an undergrad.
