Tutor’s Teaching Background

I had experience being a tutor at MathVision, teaching primary and secondary school math as well as secondary school science (physics, biology and chemistry). Besides teaching primary school students based on their school syllabus, I also taught students to prepare them for math competitions or olympiads. I am currently teaching primary and secondary school maths. I prefer to go through the concepts with student first, ensuring that they have a good understanding of the concept. I would then try some examples together with the student, and if he/she is able to do these examples, I will let them do more questions with minimal guidance. Challenging questions can then be incorporated. If the student finds a question difficult to understand, I will go through sentence by sentence, drawing diagram/model along the way to make it easier for the student to understand. I also tend to use analogy (eg. using pizza slices to teach fraction) when students have difficulty in understanding the question or method needed to solve the question.
