Tutor’s Teaching Background

I have teaching experience through my volunteer work at child care centres and community programmes. My tutoring experience focused mainly on Primary 1-4 mathematics, science, and english. I struggled with english as a kid, and failed english in my early primary school years, before going on to excel in the language (eventually graduating with a First Class from a UK uni). I’m therefore quite empathetic and patient when it comes to understanding and assisting kids with their own challenges with learning. :) ////////// I am patient and friendly with kids. :) I enjoy the process of learning and teaching, I believe that I also learn alongside the student, and I treat everyone with mutual respect regardless of age and ability. Having grown up with ADHD, I have learned to manage my learning difficulties throughout my education, and can empathise with the difficulties faced by students with similar challenges. ////////// I also have experience in a paid class support role during my undergraduate university studies in Singapore. I also proactively taught and strengthened my own and others’ understanding of challenging material during my Masters programme in London. ////////// I would prefer teaching at the student’s home, as my own home does not have a conducive environment for teaching. I live in Woodlands. ////////// Please note: I am open to a reduced rate for the first two sessions. I would like to use the early sessions as an opportunity for the student and parents to gauge my suitability to teach, and for me to better understand the student’s needs. A fair reduction in rates for the first two sessions is therefore acceptable for me. :) PS. While I have indicated a nominal hourly rate in this application (reflecting my experience), I am open to adjustments during the first month / following the first session.
