Tutor’s Teaching Background

Hi, I'm Michael Xing, currently pursuing an engineering degree at the National University of Singapore. I completed the IBDP curriculum in high school with excellent results across all subjects (43/45) with A* in higher level math, chemistry, physics, Chinese literature; and received multiple awards in academic competitions. Although I am a university student, I've been trying and improving at teaching for years. I served as a teaching assistant in high school for one year, teaching IGCSE Physics, while tutoring my schoolmates IB physics and chemistry; and since 2023, I've been volunteering weekly to teach students from diverse backgrounds (some are online). I also tutor my younger sister and children in my neighborhood till now, covering a wide range of levels—from primary school to junior college. Being a student myself, I am actively involved and have a deep understanding of the process of learning and teaching, the difficulties students may face, and the habits and learning methods that facilitate good grades. Many students have gained insight on how to learn effectively, and improved academic performance as well as confidence through building better learning habits. Hope I can lead you to overcome the challenges in learning.
